Loving Despite The Small Things
Marriage is teaching me a whole lot about loving despite the small things.
I have a bad habit of opening cans of La Croix and not finishing them. Once it starts to warm up, I simply leave it on the kitchen counter. I always say that I will finish it later.
And I know it bothers Brett. Because each time he sees it, he'll ask, "Are you finished with this?" Then either pours it down the drain or leaves it there so I can "drink" it later.
But you know what irks me? The toothpaste tube. Because when I go to brush my teeth, it's always squeezed together like a rolled up piece of paper. Brett squeezes the toothpaste tube from the top down. And it drives me crazy.
And that's the thing about it. That's the grace if you ask me. We love despite all these small things. And if you ask me, it's totally worth pouring a fourth of a drink down the drain and fixing the toothpaste tube every day.
I hope this reminds you of something you may need to let go in your day to day life in order to grow in love. Because every day when I reach for the toothpaste tube, I am reminded to choose love.
Grace Abounds,
Itzel Duke
